AP Tips

Before you answer a question think about the answer rather than the choices
Circle or highlight key words so that you are able to go back and find information to a question
Read the questions before you read the article
Know the difference between a guess and an uneducated guess
Relax the night before the test
In AP tests only write the amount you can think of, AP tests don't focus on the length of a short answer or essay

Literature Analysis

A book I just read was the lottery and this story begins with a setting based on a beautiful and there are children out of school and the villagers begin assembling in the square to hold a lottery. We aren't sure of the price of the lottery is going to be, and the mystery goes through out the whole story. The story has a lot of foreshadowing and sets out for future revelations and that is exactly what the story is built upon.

The Future

The way our choices affect the future is based upon us, I like to ask myself before I do something and I sit back and think wether this will help me later on in the future or will slow me down. Also the awareness  towards growth,  its important that we understand  our choices and also the value of the present. By focusing on our current actions, living in the moment, we develop a certain attitude and can apply ourselves to do the very best job, and that is just why maturity plays a large role in how you can make a change to the future. Our mind allows us to recognize the choices we make and how to handle with them in a positive manner. You can create the future that you desire and that's why diligence is the key to success in making your future to what you want. Just like in the sound of Thunder you have to be careful of what you do because the outcome may change your life. But Meridens words of wisdom also tell me to leave a path where no one has gone and yes that's true, shape your future as a way to help others see and come across the path you went to follow your same success.

Mad Libs

Remember that time you ate that spicy salsa just before you went to bed on the night before the big thanksgiving dinner ?  Oh, that weird dream you had about the 2016 presidential election.  When you woke up you couldn't quite remember the important details, but after reading "On Self-Reliance" and "A Sound of Thunder" it's all coming back to you now.

The dream started badly.  You were in line with your family at a grocery store  waiting to be sent to prison. Everywhere you looked there were posters of president-elect corn hair trump looking like a crazy porcupine  who could eat a whole plate full of snakes.

Suddenly, there was Ralph Waldo Emerson telling you, "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.."  You realized that you have something to contribute to the world so you decided to give.  But it wasn't easy.  First you had to put on a fancy suit and tie and then you had make a errand to go back in time to the prison so you could convince people to learn about the candidates and the global warming issue that Trump hasn't made a policy about.

But right there in the prison there was a giant dog and it started barking at everyone.  People started to stand.  You grabbed a gun from a nearby hit and yelled don't move or I will shoot. Everyone stopped and listened, so you kept going.

Emerson's Child

The way Emerson would've seen the election is that America made a choice and that was to elect Donald Trump as president, Emerson is a patriot and what all patriots need to do is too come together and be united as we always are. Just as Emerson said "What you do speaks so loud that I cannot hear what you say" and that is true so fuck all the protesting shit, get over the fact that we cannot change the elect president of the U.S. instead of protesting, you should've got out of bed and voted for your preferred candidate. Emerson said the youth had a voice and that is true, but what annoys me the most is how 2/3 of the youth do not use their privilege on voting and rather protest on who is elected. So what Emerson would say to this is that, these 4 years will be a ride, but maybe this election has taught you a thing or two. So what we need to do is too come together and end this racist shit that's been going around and grow together as a community.
" Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm". Just as the quote says, pretty self explanatory if you ask me, but what Emerson would say is in order for you to pursue a dream you would have to find something that you are really interested in. Don't do it for the money, yet work for something that you are very passionate about. "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" and Emerson this fucking genius is correct yes he something good in life but why not be something iconic and lead others to follow. Being different is the key that Emerson sees in everyone, being different is the beauty of humanity so why not be something other than what's usually seen around your community and be something else that no one expected you to be. Show the world what you are made of.
"Always do what you are afraid to do" & yes that comes in contact with me what if the courses on becoming a dentist seem difficult right now, why don't you just overcome your fear and lead no into tempatation but deliver yourself some success. As Emerson had said "our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail" and yes without failure comes success and failing is the key on becoming successful how do you want to get everything your way. You have to fail in order to get back up and think and realize what your problem is not only to solve it but too overcome this obstacle. Emerson would tell me fake it till you make it until I get to where I want to be.
Being yourself is tough at times because this is where doubt or faking comes in. In order for you to do things the way you want you must be yourself follow your own rhythm and find your own path and that is what will take you somewhere in life. Trying to be someone is a terrible waste of time, quit trying to be someone you are not and be someone you were destined to be. I am my own person I am dedicated to learning and as well as getting the paper, I was raised in a hard working family and man has it taught me so much, my uncle just spoke to me last night and he said when I worked with him in the fields I was his co worker and once job ended I was nephew and this is strong because he wanted me to understand what hard work is, he would talk too me like if i weren't related to him, he did this to see me mature and work as a man. Him not being fortunate enough to speak English is tough, what he said, " is to learn from a white man how things are runned over here cuz one day it'all be worth it.
Emerson is a wise man and what the purpose of self reliance is to be yourself and find who and what you are really made of. Being yourself is what being a human is all about, be that person you want yourself to be and overcome the fear and challenges life has upon you. Being yourself is happiness I'm a very happy person, I give more but expect less, expectations hurt and life is only so short that you wish you could'v ewnjoyed it if you were actually yourself. Some may say live fast and die young but who's willing to tell that story because I drive slow and pray I die old, life is precious. So before you quit, try, before you die, live and before you pray, forgive.

evil and squalor will disappear, beauty and nobility will reign.

Helps explain the way I feel about the election, wether people are saying things are going to get good or bad, I'm just figuring out how to get through with what just happened yesterday. Being an illegal immigrant is not easy, having a president going against you and many millions like you is a problem, only thing right now in my mind is too get far in life, my parents never brought me to the U.S to get deported back yet to build a future here and live it to the fullest. Let's just see how things get handled,  imma let God be the judge.

Presenatation Notes Mon-Wed

Speaking up plays a larg role, not speaking will on leave you in a situation that can stay or get worse
Emerson wants you to be yourself, avoid the negative energy that is around you
Every 1 minute of anger is 60 seconds of happiness and it's true time should be used wisely
Don't listen to anyone's opinion
Everyone is an artist, painting the picture in their minds and following those pictures
To believe your own thought
Nothing can bring you peace but yourself
Smile now cry later
You think of something good and someone says it before and you can relate, but Emerson wants you to speak up and get the job done
Speaking up will get things done for you
"Yet he dismisses without thought because it is his"
Don't be ashamed of who you are
Emerson is a wise man, he helps the mind and soul his thoughts of wisdom can make you come to a realization that therapists are not needed to help you out yet his words are the beauty of humans that helps you out individually

Emerson paragraph

Self-Realiance, a great story written by Emerson has many quotes by a wise man and not just any quotes, these quotes have taught me so much in the short time. Like when Emerson had said," nothing can bring you happiness besides yourself" and man is that accurate. Just hearing that brings chills to the spine on how accurate that is. Think about it, making yourself happy or achieving something that was in the long term can bring you the happinesss that you've been seeking for once the task was achieved. Self satisfaction is the best, get it from me I never came from a rich family, I seen the struggle that my parents faced in their early years and man seeing them achieve things was the best feeling, like getting a house and a new car is a big achievement. So for me I got inspired and I worked and I helped my parents out and I also became independent at a young age and man does it feel good achieving things and just feeling like you're a grown person and this comes into perspective when Emerson says that you bring your own happiness. Emerson has also taught me to speak up and that the youth has a voice and that no one should be considering themselves stupid yet smart, and yes he's very inspiring.

Emerson quotes

Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. This can illustrate to us a guitar, it continues on even when you're not sure it will just to trust yourself then you can be happy with everything you do

Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles. What this means to me is that everybody has there own meaning of peace.

What I must do, is all that concerns me not what people think. This means to me that who cares what people judge you on, you are unique person with a great mind that shouldn't be told negative things that can bring you down.

What we stand for. This means to me that our actions are aligned with our beliefs.

Envy is ignorance, Imitation is Suicide. This means to me that
he is saying that you have to be yourself, people have to obey their own consciences rather than listening to what society tells them to do. He is saying that it is dumb to want to be like other people He is saying that trying to imitate other people is like killing yourself.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. This means to me Too much consistency, which you usually find in people who are not creative thinkers and choose to stick to what is known and constantly done, cuts off the flow of progress through fresh ideas and differing viewpoints

If  Emerson would go back in the ancient times, let's talk about B.C era, could he have been seen as a wise man or would the people take him as a God?

Literature Analysis

A book I remember reading was mice and men is about two men named George and Lennie. George in this story is considered the smarts in the story and Lennie is the big man who is very strong. So they live in Salinas California and they just look around, trying to find a job and once they find the job they stay and rest because at the owners barn because they have no home and have work the next day. However things at first look good and Lennie has like this disorder that makes him " retarded"
and both these men want a farm, but Lennie wants bunnies and just had an affection for animals. So towards the end Lennie has caused a big issue and has got into a fight where he hurt this man badly , so George leads him to a river bed where George then shoots him. The authors tone was like serious and I feel like this man is normal and has breakfast with the family , goes to work and goes to the gym after , towards the end of the day he comes and relaxes. What drew me to this book was the ratings of this book. Getting into the chapter was interesting due to the fact that it took place in an area that is 2 hours away and my reading habit is alright, I don't usually ready a lot but when I do, I stay committed to the book. The theme in the novel is "what goes around, comes around". So this goes as refer ration to where Lennie got what he deserved due to what he did to the man. The way the author wrote or gave us the understanding was not an issue or a change of language where it made it difficult, but it was just interesting how he made many similes in the story. Once I finished the story felt sad because the relationship that was described in the story seemed so real that I did feel like I met those people.

Mentor

A person I would ask my question too would be several people including successful and unsuccessful people. This question is based on many perspectives because many people go through different stages in life and this fits perfectly because this helps show the way peoples mindsets and actions have came in the outcome of their future. So yes if I had the time to do this I certainly would because it would interest me on the way people worked their lives. So with this question asked I will get many request with different emotions, which is what I'm looking forward too and not only will this give me answers to my question yet, this will give me some life lessons to build myself a path to my success as well. This question is honestly not a correct or wrong question , but builds the beauty of human nature, which fascinates me because when I drive on freeway or look at a plane flying high , i sit and think like wow! All those people there have different paths for their futures, and i also think wether I any I may run into one of these people later in the future.

Big Question

Authority

Authority figures are great such as teachers and police men, those two can change our futures and protect us from danger. They are great people who deserve a lot of credibility because not only do they teach us the ways of life and the ways of understanding and getting to where we want. Teachers especially, they focus on students to get them further in their future. However, teachers can be terrible as well, some may choose favorites and can just criticize you. This is bad because to the "good there is always bad". As well as cops some may protect us or they can kill black unarmed people because of their skin tone.

Aeries

The grade I got was an A minus, not surprised but not quite satisfied. I received this grade because I followed directions and did what was asked in order to receive my A. I've earned A's and one D and all this was earned on my blog and exams. I truly think I have an A in this class, I know the work I do and how much time I use towards this class. The A is my grade. I don't need Aeries

Perspective

So I as I watched this Netflix series called "Narcos" which involves a drug lord named Pablo Escobar I happened to watch a scene where everything in life is collapsing for Pablo. He then goes to his fathers ranch where his father is isolated yet Pablo is not handling the labor his father does to maintain his ranch. Pablo asks his father how he would feel if he would buy some property near him for his family and kids and his father doesn't not speak and just says "let's get back on putting the Bob wire". The drug lord gets a sense of his father not liking him, so this angers Pablo Escobar and he goes to his father and speaks to him what his father considers him as a son. His father calls him a disssapointment and a murdered. So Pablo Escobar feels so bad that he just leaves the place where he was with his father. I came to a sense and just really noticed that getting spanked or hit by your father is not that bad to where you become a disappointment. Disssapointment towards your father is the worst thing you can ever do in life, that's my point of view and I just wanted to share that.

Literature Analysis 1

A book that I have read is called 'Things Fall Apart" so, this story is about a wealthy man that is wealthy and respected as a warrior. This story takes place in Africa. Okonkwo the protagonist hates his father Unoka, Unoka was known to be a coward and also a person who never kept his promises when people gave him money. However, Okonkwo was a much different man and this was shown with his characteristics. Okonkow is a father and has three wives, but his oldest son Nwoye is seen as a lazy boy and Okonkwo fears that his son will end up being like his father. So there is a week known as  "Peace Week" so there is a rule towards this week and that is that no violence is prohibited during this week. Okonkwo gets himself into a situation where he is accusing his youngest wife and he beats her. The community finds out and that is where the community soon looses the respect they once had for this fierce fighter. Okonkwo is then kicked out of the town and can come back in 7 years. He moves with his parents in a near by village. So going towards the end some, European settlers end up on this tribes area and then this leads to them turning some of these tribesmen into Christianity. So Okonkwo returns and he is angered that these men are making a change. Okonkwo isn't looked as the fierce warrior he was once known as. Okonkwo leads an angry mob to burn down the church and this leads to Okonkwo being starved in a cell until his daughter bails him out. Okonkwo kills the leader of these European settlers and Okonkwo is all left by himself because he thought his fellow warriors were going to fight amongst him but they end up not doing so. So at the end Okonkwo ends hanging himself before he is captured.

The theme in this story is that you wont always be the bigger person. Just like how Okonkwo was once seen as the "greatest" he had lost all his power.

I feel like the author of "Things Fall Apart" gets up in the morning and just sees the problems in the world. The author is probably a serious man who eats French toast drinks his orange juice and just looks at the newspaper too see what else the world has come too. Yet the author goes to sleep not feeling complete because he sees society as a joke.

Some literary techniques that I used while finding the theme were context clues. Context clues are great because this helps you find anything out just by reading the passage. Another strategy that I used was imagery as in where I pictured everything that I read onto my head. Allegory played a big part as well because the plot of the story reminded me of history on how European settlers would dominate Africa and then would make millions worth of profit due to the crops they planted over at Africa

Back To School Questions

1. What is the purpose of this class ?
The purpose of this class is to get the education that is required by the state. Not only is that required yet you are receiving the free education that not everyone in the world can receive.

2. Describe something interesting that you have learned, read and or written in class ?
Something interesting that I have learned in class is how valuable time is. We only have 50 minutes of class and I'm still learning new abilities on how I can finish my work at a much faster pace and use my time carefully.

3. What is the easiest/hardest interesting work you have done so far?
The easiest job that I am doing in this course would have to be just doing the work on my bog. However the hardest may be catching up with the blogs due to the fact that other students have 15 posts or more.

4. What are your goals for the next grading periods? For the semester? For the school year ?
My goals on maintaining my grades is to stay at a 3.8 or maybe to reach a 4.0. The way I am planning to reach this certain goal is to work hard and just stay concentrated.

5. What is a Socratic Seminar? What is a blog? What is 2.0 and how are you using it?
A Socratic Seminar is known to be a discussion between people and this type of discussion involves opened questions. While this discussion is talked about, the students or people just listen on the comments that are made. The blog or our blog is a way that we share our thoughts like these, in my opinion I think this is a great use to share our experiences and just thinks in general that Dr. Preston asks us. A 2.0 is either known as a type of advancement or grade level, if we're speaking about the advancement then I think am using this source at its potential.

English course

1 What work have you produced in this class so far ?
The work that I have produced in Dr. Preston's class is just catching all of my work up to date. As well as staying concentrated and just trying to strive for an A in his class. Things that I have also produced in my class is how to use time wisely. As you can see we only have a limited amount of time in each class, each minute should be used wisely yet others don't and don't intend on finishing their work. However I am trying to do the opposite of that.

2 If I could give myself a grade, I would give myself a B due to the fact that I'm still catching up on some work. Maybe In a week I can maybe say I deserve an A , but for right now I'm just trying to catch up on my blog.

3 For me to succeed I will have to stay focused on my work. Avoiding distractions will play a part for me on achieving what I want. While Dr. Preston was gone the energy in the class consisted of a lot of goofing around and people not doing their work, yet I managed to stay concentrated and get the job done.

Young Goodman Brown Questions

1. Hawthorne's purpose of writing this story was for the fact the story gave a great example of a plot twist. Not only did he gives us a plot twist, but the story information wasn't giving directly to you, after a while as you get into the story you start noticing the interesting parts of the story. I just really like the fact the story wasnt obvious and it required some thinking to see this. However I think the purpose of this story was to experience a different type of reading & comprehension.

2. Faith's name "Faith" does not eventually fit in her character, well in the story we noticed that at first Faith was a lovable women just seeking great things for her future. As we start getting further in the story, we notice that she is also involved with this witch craft and isn't the person we thought she was. This becomes an issuer because Brown saw her as a loving wife but once Brown wakes up he losses all the faith in her and see's her as a different person.

3. In my opinion I feel like the pink ribbons are a symbol for Faiths innocence and the things that keeps her and Brown together. I also feel like the color pink is so much different and rare due to the fact that this story takes time in the 17th century which most of the colors that were worn were black, white , brown & gray. This pink ribbon is also a sign of her standing out and grabbing the attention of others.

4. I feel like the things the Brown witnessed was just all a dream the was just full of evil. I just feel like this could have been a nightmare because everyone was coming back to life , like his mother and father were with him in this evil forest. Let's just be honest that this doesn't not happen in the real world where your parents come back to life. However the story doesn't tell us but I just feel like this has to be a dream because he returns to Salem the next day and everything is back to normal.

5. The old man is the "devil" well I happen to say this because he practically appears when Brown is walking through the forest. When brown runs into him without a notice, I started to notice that a lot of things were going on such as the forest being on fire and many of his loved ones being demonic and evil. The old man obviously is the reason to all of this because everything went bad when Brown ran into him. The old man also talks about how he knew his grand father and father and just simply knows the story of Brown which is another example of witch craft.

6. The staff is also another symbol in the story. The staff is described as a snake. The old man always offers his staff to Brown and he tells him that the staff will make him get to his destination at a faster time. Brown does get convinced but the staff just leads him further into the forest and the further he gets that where things start to get very evil in the story.

7. I feel like if Brown had never ventured to the forest everything would still be at its place. He would still have faith for all his towns people, but I then disagree because he was trying to get to his destination. So maybe if he had stayed this would only prevent this from happening sooner than later but either he would have still experienced this witch craft. So wether he did or not go into the forest he still would have had this experience.

The story about "the Earth on Turtles Back " was a pretty interesting story. I really like the fact that all these animals were helpful. I especially enjoyed the part of the story when the musk rat saw his fellow animal friends fail yet he was determined to bring the earth up and get the job done. It just shows how determine yourself into something can cause great things. The language is written a bit different due to how more explained the story seems to be. The language we use, it's not to interesting it just gets to the point, however in the book the story describes a lot of the things that are talked about. If a story comes into more languages or more ways to be told then the story is certainly embellished because it wants to show or describe something that was done back in the older days, such as the way the believed things. Some American or "Native American " myths that were told , were from the Apache and how they always saw something and they always wanted to praise it as somethings from their Gods , or just the earth being generous and how things were given to them. Such as their crops and families being able to do certain things like hunt.
